
Girls On Film Awards 2024
The 2024 Girls on Film Awards, held at Regent Street Cinema in London on February 20, celebrated exceptional women-focused films and industry figures. Hosted by Anna Smith and Hedda Archbold, the event featured notable presenters such as Monica Dolan, Ronni Ancona, and Sarah Gavron. Leading the winners were Barbie and Poor Things, which earned multiple accolades. Barbie took home the Production Design and Publicity Awards, while Poor Things won the inaugural Costume Design Award for Holly Waddington and Emma Stone was honoured with the Female Orgasm on Screen Award.
Other winners included Molly Manning Walker, who won the Cinematography Award for Scrapper, and Mica Levi, awarded the Composer Award for The Zone of Interest. The Female Friendship on Screen Award went to Nyad, and Bottoms claimed the Ensemble Cast Award. The Girls on Film Ally Award, given to a male figure for advocating women’s representation, was presented to William Oldroyd for Eileen. The Activist Impact Award was given to Reclaim The Frame.
The awards, voted on by diverse women critics and male allies, emphasize inclusion and the representation of women and marginalized genders in film. They reflect the mission of the Girls on Film podcast, celebrating excellence in gender diversity and complex female narratives.
